The model was born on boats. It sized the system that took SV Endurance 1,000 unsupported nautical miles down the BC coast — where, over the whole voyage, a 1 kW array harvested more energy than the motor consumed and the propulsion bank never fell below half charge. The same arithmetic sized the power systems for an off-grid island development: the Starlight flux equation balances every building’s loads against array output and battery reserve, from a single set of parameters down to the bill of materials.

On the water

And it floats: in partnership with the Halalt First Nation, the model shaped floating solar platforms that pair clean generation with aquatic carbon sequestration — two platforms designed to deliver a megawatt-hour a week.
