Terms

The site tells you what we have learned and what your boat is likely to do. It is honest planning information — not a quote, and not a guarantee.

About this site

This site is published by Wiser Marine Technologies Ltd. of Victoria, British Columbia. Its purpose is to inform: to share what our sea trials proved, where the limits are, and how a solar-electric system might perform on a boat like yours. Using the site means you accept the terms on this page.

The simulator and design briefs are estimates, not promises

The configurator, the simulator, and any design brief they produce give planning estimates, not quotes and not guarantees. They model likely behaviour from real trial data and stated assumptions, including the adverse scenarios every honest plan has to face. Actual results depend on your boat, your equipment, the weather, and how you sail. Nothing on this site is a warranty or guarantee of range, speed, energy yield, or any other outcome. Where we show a figure, we show how it was arrived at; treat it as a well-founded expectation to test, not a number to bank on.

Our proof has a known envelope

What we publish is drawn from a specific voyage in specific conditions, and we say so plainly across the site. We mark what has been measured, what is modelled, and what is still in development, so you can always tell whether our proof applies to the system you would actually receive. Please read those distinctions rather than assuming a result carries over to conditions we have not tested.

Design services

Our design and advisory services are digital professional work. Each service is governed by the terms shown on its own product page and by any engagement agreement we enter into with you. Those terms set out the scope, what you receive, the turnaround, and — because the work begins the moment we start it — that fees are non-refundable once the work is under way. A design memo is our informed professional opinion with its confidence stated; it is not an installation instruction, a certification, or a guarantee of performance.

Retrofit kits and installation

We do not sell retrofit kits as boxed goods over a checkout. A kit is priced as a design engagement against your brief and is supplied and installed through a partner yard under a separate agreement. The terms that govern the supply and installation live in that agreement, not on this site. See Shipping & Returns for how this works.

Components and retail

Individual marine components are sold through our sister chandlery at mooring.ca, under that site’s own terms, warranties, and shipping and returns policies. Purchases made there are governed by those policies, not these.

Content and intellectual property

The writing, images, data, and designs on this site belong to Wiser Marine Technologies Ltd. unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to read and share them; please do not reproduce them commercially or present our results as your own without our permission.

Limits

We work to keep the information here accurate and the site available, but we cannot promise it is error-free or always online. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions made solely on the strength of the site’s general information — which is exactly why the real decisions run through a simulation and a written engagement, where the assumptions are made explicit for your boat.

Which law applies

We are a British Columbia company and intend these terms to be read under the laws of British Columbia and Canada. Nothing here removes any right the law gives you that cannot be waived.

Questions

This is a plain-language statement of our terms as the business gets under way, and we will refine it over time. If anything is unclear, please ask us.
