We collect only what we need to answer you and to fulfil an order, we keep it no longer than we have to, and we never sell it.

Who we are

This site is operated by Wiser Marine Technologies Ltd., based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. We are the organisation responsible for the personal information described here. Questions about your information — including requests to see it or have it deleted — reach us through the contact page.

What we collect, and why

We collect personal information in two ordinary situations, and only for the purpose that situation implies:

  • When you send us an inquiry. Our contact and project-brief forms record what you tell us — your name, the way you asked us to reach you, details about your boat or project, and anything you attach, such as a brief exported from the simulator. Each submission becomes an inquiry record so we can read it, reply, and keep track of the conversation. We use this to answer you and to follow up on the specific matter you raised.
  • When you place an order. If you buy a service through the shop, the order carries the billing and contact details needed to take payment, issue an invoice, and deliver the work. Payment card details are handled by our payment processor — we do not store full card numbers.

We do not require an account to browse the site or run the simulator, and we do not build advertising profiles.

Where it lives, and who sees it

Inquiry records and orders are held on systems we control, or on service providers acting on our behalf (for example, the payment processor that handles a transaction). We share your information with such providers only to the extent they need it to do that job, and we do not give or sell it to anyone else for their own purposes.

We do not sell your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We use it to respond to you, to carry out work you have asked for, and to keep the business records any company must keep.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiry records only as long as we need them to respond to you and to keep a reasonable record of our dealings; order records are kept as long as our business and tax obligations require. When information is no longer needed for those purposes, we remove it or make it anonymous.

Cookies

We use only the cookies the site needs to work — for example, to keep a shopping session together while you are in the shop. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Your browser can refuse cookies; the shop may not function fully if you do.

Seeing or deleting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Reach us through the contact page and we will respond within a reasonable time. If we ever cannot honour a request — because the law requires us to keep a record, for instance — we will tell you why.

Consent and marketing

Sending us an inquiry lets us reply to that inquiry; it is not a subscription to marketing. If we ever send commercial email, it will identify us and offer a clear way to unsubscribe, as Canadian anti-spam law requires.

Changes to this notice

This is a plain-language statement of how we handle your information as the business gets under way; we will refine it as our practices settle, and any updated version will appear on this page. If you have a question about anything here, please ask us.
