Coastal Electric Kit — 37–45 ft Monohull

Priced against your Design Brief

Priced as a design engagement against your simulator Design Brief. We quote your kit after reviewing the Brief — boat class, system scope, and yard installation are itemized before anything is ordered. Kits are supplied and installed through a partner yard, never sold as a self-install parcel. Start below: attach your Design Brief reference and we will respond within 3 business days.

Description

A solar-electric propulsion system for a 37–45 ft displacement monohull — above the size we sailed in FY25, sized to your hull by the configurator’s propulsion model.

MODEL — above the FY25-proven envelope The FY25 voyage proved a 35 ft boat. A larger hull needs more energy to move at the same speed — the cubic power–speed relationship works against you as displacement rises. Our model extends to this size (the configurator’s reference fleet runs up to a 60 ft Beneteau Oceanis), but this tier is modeled, not sea-trial-proven, and we label it that way throughout.

What a larger boat typically needs

  • More solar — the 2 kW array with 2-axis tracking is on our FY26 development path (MODEL), not the 1 kW array we proved.
  • A larger propulsion bank and, in most cases, the Torqeedo Cruise 6 kW POD drive rather than a transom outboard.
  • Honest expectations about the solar-sustained speed band, which narrows as the boat gets heavier.

What we won’t claim

We will not present the FY25 net-energy result as if it applies to a 40 ft boat — it was measured on a lighter hull. Your Design Brief gives modeled curves for your actual displacement, marked MODEL, plus a frank read on where solar alone stops keeping up.

How it’s supplied

Kits are supplied and installed through a partner yard, never shipped as a self-install parcel. You keep your yard relationship; we de-risk the engineering.
